Following a meeting this morning with the rest of the school’s Leadership Team, and consultation with Governors, we have made the decision to open school only for the children of Critical Workers and those children identified and agreed as vulnerable from Wednesday 6th January to Friday 15th January (inclusive).
In order for us to manage the organisation of this successfully, tomorrow, Tuesday 5th January will be a Remote Learning day for all. This means that school will not be open to children and learning will be set on line, via Google Classrooms.
From Wednesday 6th January school will only be open for the children of Critical Workers and those children identified and agreed as vulnerable. This is not a decision we have taken lightly, but the only one we feel we can make at this time of such uncertainty, rising infection rates, and given staffing situations and concerns about safety with regard to increasing Covid infection rates in Tier 4 areas.
We also believe it is vital that we take a community response, and therefore our actions fully align with those of TAB Infants.
We understand that this information is coming out to you very late, but we have no alternative, but to make this hard choice, in the best interests of your children, our families and our staff.
For those of you who want to request a place for your child in school as a Critical Worker we have created a Google form which we would ask that you complete as soon as possible (and by 9.00am on Tuesday 5th January at the latest) so we can plan our groupings. You can access this here: https://forms.gle/Sy77odhA6uX9Pyws9
As we are unsure how many families will be requiring school places, we will be prioritising families who have two critical workers initially, along with our vulnerable families. If we are able to offer spaces to those families with one critical worker, we will of course do so. Parents/carers of Critical Workers will receive notification of spaces via email tomorrow as soon as we are able to do so, so please ensure that you provide the correct email address.
Members of the school’s Senior Leadership Team will contact any parents whose children we consider to be ‘vulnerable’ to offer a place.
For children of Critical Workers & those identified and agreed as vulnerable the school day timings will remain as per last term.
I know that many of you will be concerned about learning over the next two weeks for your children. However, our remote learning model is very well-set up - further details will be sent out to you shortly. If you have any questions or concerns about this, please direct them to your child’s class teacher as your first point of contact.
I would like to thank you all in advance, for your patience, understanding and co-operation to help us all get through this period of uncertainty and anxiety for many.
John Gadd (Headteacher)
